The mystery of planet formation is solved. It is stellar evolution. Planets are the remains of old stars that are highly evolved and dead. Asteroids/meteroids are just the remains of smashed up dead stars and stellar cores.
I know they know this because they changed the lede on the wikipedia page for "planet" to: "A planet is a large astronomical body that is not a star or stellar remnant." and then subsequently say there are issues with the scientific definition of planet. Go figure.
I get painted all the time by online ridiculers and what have you, even when I'm joking around as some crazy person. That's the internet for you.
I assure you though, I am sane, rational and quite surprised the very basics of astrophysics are far more simple than the orbital mechanics books that can put people in a coma.
